Timing and no horsepower
Morning guys,
I've been in an uphill battle with my 93 4runner 3.0 3VZE. I recently rebuilt the top end of the motor(my first time) and already asked several questions on here about certain issues. Now my uphill battle is with the timing on the runner.
1. I made sure the #1 on distributor was pointed at the #1 cylinder.
2. Then notch on the pulley was set TDC. even turned the pulley 360 degrees to make sure it was on the compression stroke.
3. I placed a jumper on TE1 andE1.
4. I timed the motor according to the instructions under the hood, which was 10BTDC.
5. Revved motor to 2000rpm so as to time it, and it sounds great! Idles at 800rpm.
Now when i drive it, there is no horsepower and it is gutless? There is a slight hesitation (about 3 seconds) and then it will move. I'm scratching my head trying to figure out if i missed something here. Has anyone come across an issue like this?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you...

I did not do that ksti. Could this be the problem i'm facing? So do i now have to re-time the runner with the jumper again and then follow the steps you're talking about? Thank you for the help.

If the timing belt was removed and replaced it could be off a tooth.
If not, the problem could be the Throttle Position Sensor is out of adjustment.
Have you checked for any stored codes yet?
I would start off simple and re check timing.
Edit: I read some of your other threads and noticed you replaced the TPS.
Did you adjust it per manual procedure?
Looks like alot been going on here.

Thanks for the help ksti. It all worked, but now I'm facing two codes that keep popping up. 42 and 43 (vehicle speed sensor circuit, and starter signal circuit).
