timing issues

ive tried searching but nothing on this.I can not time my truck 1986 4x4 rtec .every thing is at tdc. jumper in conector idle down.timing is about 10 degrees advanced.i turn the distributor all the way back to retard but it wont go past the stops. We pulled the dist and moved one tooth then put everything back in and the truck wont start.any help what am i doing wrong .It is running now but i think it could run a little better .

when you jumper the diagnostic connector what does the check engine light do?

Any luck, tom? TPS and other sensor can impact ECU control of timing also.
