How bad is this for timing chain wear? guides are intact.

Thats what Im thinking. The engine runs great and was rebuilt a few years ago. Just looks like alot of slack.

There is a timing chain tensioner that takes up some slack but on the other side.
I don't know the spec's for slack on the 22re timing chain. I'm sure there is a spec.
Are you a top dead center in this pic?
Are you sure the guides are intact? Mine was "intact" but it had actual just broken on eyelet and was resting on the housing wall. Given a little longer, she would have popped.

It's a cheap fix and good piece of mind. Why are you digging into the engine when it was rebuilt not too long ago?

I bought it from a friend to swap into my truck. If you look at the pics you will notice its not in a truck. I was digging into it to check the guides. It has a few years on the rebuild. I know it runs good because I heard it run before we took it out for his 4.3 swap.
