Timing belt change time

Alright I searched like a wild person for this info so I dont wanna her "try using the search button" J/K...

I'm about to jump in this thing its not out yet but i just rolled ove 200K so its gotta be time.... And i think i'm starting to get a few drips from my water pump . So i'm going in ther any way.....

My question is this what should I replace? i'm going to replace everything I can get my hands on!! especialy since i'm ordering everything from a toyota part discounter. And local part stores will have to order anything that I will decide I need.. All ive gotten from the search is "camshaft seals and stuff" :pat:

My second question.. What do i need to watch out for? problems you have had, that i should avoid...

Thanx

***Edit*** 91 3.0 auto :pat:

It helps if we know what engine you're working on, but generally you want to replace the water pump, belt obviously and any idler pulleys that are not perfectly smooth, or just replace them anyway for insurance. The cam and crank seals are up to you, but they're cheap and not too difficult while you're there so at 200k I probably would. And it's a good time to replace the drive belts, you have to take them off anyway. I usually keep the old ones for spares.

One of the big problems is getting the crank bolt out. An impact gun works if you've got one. If not I've used the breaker bar and starter trick. Get a deep 6point socket and a 24" bar, put them on the bolt with the bar under the passenger side frame rail and blip the starter, with the ignition disconnected. I've only done this on a 93 4Runner with the 3.0, so I don't know if it'll work on 3rd gens, Tacos etc.

Another problem can be getting the belt on with the pulleys lined up correctly. Make sure the driver side of the belt is as tight as it can be, and have any slack in the other side.

Here's a write-up for the 3.4, the 3.0 is similar

fyi your sig is good place to put your truck info... and while your at it you can update your location also

water pump, fan belts, hoses, timming belt, idler pulley's. Check your fan bracket, if it sounds bad/feels bad the bearing in it will likely die in the near future also. Get that part off the internet.

If your powerstearing pump is leaking nows a great time to do that also.
