the MC dashpopt valve is in the aircleaner on the bottomside of it. has 2 or 3 vacuum hoses attached to it. try cleaning it might help. Im glad the choke wire helped

Re-read my post.

I did NOT say that if the t-chain jumps a tooth that it would not effect the ignition timing. Cam timing controls the opening and closing events of the valves. Under normal operating conditions.... Ignition timing CANNOT effect cam timing. Ignition timing controls the spark, under normal operating conditions, the spark CANNOT effect the mechanical opening and closing of the valves.

If this is wrong.... please explain.

well, it might look like a little flying saucer with a tube on it. Someone mentioned its location above. On my EFI it looks like this: (the throttle sets on it just to the left of this pic. when you let off the gas the dashpot catches your throttle so that it doesn't slam shut and instead slows it down some. But if it's clogged up or not working right, it might be really slow--it's sort of acts like a shock absorber for your throttle.)

jeez 1990 yota pickup...you need to read the rest of the thread..we're wayyy past the timing part dude.....and the manual doesnt do shat for my problem...sorry to disappoint you but it doesn't help at all...

well my air cleaner is not on my truck(fiddling with the carb WAYY too much to leave it on there LOL)..and all the vacuum hoses that went to it have been plugged for about 15,000 miles....theres a diaphragm in a brass case that isn't hooked up (but was before) that is right here

its the brass lookin thing to the left bottom of the pic..idk what it's for..but i was told i don't need LOL

im not too sure if i wanna fix the problem guys LMAO!! it idles at about 550-1000 rpms (depends on how it's feeling..sometimes it idles at 1000 sometimes 550 LOL)

But other than it...it runs amazing LOL and seems to have a lot more low end grunt than before and it's getting perty good gas mileage LOL

with it running lean like it is...would i be able to advance the timing a bit to take advantage of the lean mixture??? without screwing something up of course...

I would gauge the timing advance by the way the plugs look now. If they are really white I wouldn't mess with anything but maybe lowering the ign timing a little. Which reminds me I got to check out my plugs after 300 miles on my rebuild lol.

I've got mine at 5 1/2 and I swear it pings going up mountains lol. ENGNBLDR told me do go no more than 6 on the carbs. Since they only supposed to be at 0.

the FSM download file worked for me. keep in mind depending on how wore the adjusting screws are on the valves you may or may not be able to quiet them up. and remember to set when hot not cold. and do not run motor with valve cover off. Been there done that. OIL ALL OVER THE PLACE. These 22rs aren't like 350's lol
