Throttle position sensor

I just put in a new head gasket in my 22RE. Now the truck runs like . It idles at 500 rpms and revs up like a lawn mower. I pretty sure that its the TPS. When I have the motor running and I unplug it there is no change.

The other thing that I've noticed is that the plug does not fully seat in the receiver on the sensor. It slides on but dosent click in to place. short of replacing the unit. what other things can I look for or do?

Figure out why the plug is not seating fully. Bent pin or damaged socket or something like that. And test/adjust the TPS:

Then set the timing (with jumper installed) to 5 degrees BTDC:
