Throttle Body

Took apart my intake to clean it and there was a decent amount of build up right where the last intake tube reaches the engine (right before the throttle body on the metal part not the intake tube.) Also, there was a decent amount of what looked to be oil in the closest vacuum hose that connects from right next to the oil cap to the intake hose (its a 93' 3.0).

I cleaned out the vacuum hose, but wasn't too sure about cleaning right in front of the throttle body because it seemed like it could be oil lubricating the throttle body. Thoughts?

You want to clean that as well, just dont mess with your TPS settings. Leave it attached to the Throttle Body Assembly. While you have your Intake off, most likely your EGR is clogged and has a big mess everywhere of carbon. This is on a 22re, https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f199...l#post52147469 but alot applies to cleaning yours and what to look for. The EGR can be cleaned and functional again and how to get it apart. The screw that holds the pipe in the EGR wont come out with screw driver, you will need to use vise grips. Just read the following few post for what to look for.

Thanks for the reply! I actually replaced my EGR last November (from Toyota), but I might take a look at it and see whats going.I have closely monitored the intake as I found a small amount of water in it last December (found a leak in on of the connections). Other then this small amount of build up in front of the throttle body it has stayed very clean for the most part, just never taken the full intake off before so I'm guessing its about 40k of build up.
