Does your 22R sound different everyday?
I've been paying more attention I think mine does... one day it's quiet the next day it's chattering

Yes.
It has soul. Not like modern ˟˟˟˟. Give it a pat on the hood at night. Helps quiet the valvetrain chatter

There's an old saying something like "just because you're paranoid doesn't mean someone's not really out to get you". Applies here, as well. I'm a bit paranoid about noises on my old truck, especially after I've done a major project on it. Usually I hear a noise and then wish I'd listened more carefully before I did the modification so I could answer "is this noise new, or was it there before?"
After I did my dual case install, I took it for a test drive, heard all kinds of new noises from the transfer cases, and figured I had serious issues. Finally came to realize that I hadn't sealed up the shifter boots like they were before. Once I did that, all was quiet again.
But ev13wt is right, all of these trucks may have started out the same, but by now every one of them has its own personality and idiosyncracies. Like being married to the same woman for 35 years. The quirks become familiar and then essential for happiness.
