The light wires is in with the FI harness. If the motor or head has been pulled its possible that they unplugged the harness in the passenger side kick panel at the computer and didn't get it plugged back in there.
the motor has been pulled. any pics on what wire that may be?

If 4wd works I wouldn't sweat the light. All it really tells you is that you shifted the t-case into 4wd, which you would obviously know. I guess it's more of a reminder to shift out of 4wd when you get back to dry road.

Some other trucks, like Chevys for example, use the light as an indicator the the hubs are locked in. If the hubs don't lock, the light stays off. This is not the case with our trucks (at least with manual hubs. I don't know if it's different with auto hubs..).

In this pic you can see the sender for the light on my Marlin Crawler (2 blue wires):

The first sender Marlin sent me on this crawler one wire was almost broken off right where it starts at the sender.

Uhhh I don't have a pic. Pull the three screws that hold the kick panel in. The eCM will be bolted in under it. Remove the three bolts that hold that in and you will see all the connectors. There may be one or two that don't have plugs but look to see if any that are loose have a mate.

If you were close I would have you swing by one Saturday when I am around and we could take a look at it.

I get to Warner Robins every couple weeks for work but I'm wide open when I am there. Not much time to crawl under a truck. If you don't have it sorted out I will be down there possibly next week. You have to buy my lunch at Ginji though if I get to tinkering on your truck. LOL.
