Question Temp Gauge

So I put an SR5 cluster in last weekend and everything seems to be working awesome, but last night I noticed something weird with the temp gauge. I was letting my truck warm up and about 4-5mins of letting it sit I was watching the gauge and the needle went from the bottom to exactly halfway almost instantly. Do these gauges do that? My old one just went up slowly and read about a quarter most of the time.

I've heard of that happening more than once, and my personal thought on it is that you should replace the temp probe on the motor during the swap too, just in case...

I know it's suppose to be only necessary to replace the oil pressure sending unit, but it wouldn't be a bad time to replace the temp sensor too

Thanks for the info you guys. Just didn't want to be in a scenario where my truck overheats (knock on wood) and the gauge not read it.

Just a FYI, your engine coolant will proably get over 235 deg F before that gauge moves up from the halfway mark. To me that's already overheated.
