Tailgate help!

Tailgate help!
I have a 94 extra cab pickup. The tailgate is closed and the handle is broken. How do I put a new handle in? I know I saw a thread for this but when I tried searching for it I couldn't find it. Thanks in advance!

Remove the plate on the inside of the tailgate unhook the linkage
Remove handle install new one .
Hook up the Linkage lubricate all moving parts
put on cover plate
done.

Hm. Seems simple enough! I think that's all that is wrong with it. When I got it the handle was missing and there was a small piece of metal dangling inside where the handle should be.
