tail light fuse

1991 22RE pickup, I was driving to work in the morning and the dash lights went out suddenly. Found the tail light fuse had blown, replaced it and it blew again as soon as I turned the lights on. After some forum searching this was the only thread I found that was any use https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...opping-215302/
I disconnected the rear harness under the passenger seat but the fuse still blows. I haven't messed with any of the wiring in several months and even then it was only to replace the O2 sensor so I don't think that has anything to do with it. Is there anywhere in particular I should start looking or is it pretty much a shot in the dark? I'm pretty bad with electrical so any advise would be appreciated, thanks.

Shorted Tail light relay ?? I would check this first I am guessing it has one

I would check the wires around the front marker lights looking for possible shorts

Then check the Rheostat that might have shorted

Aftermarket Radio at all??

Any of the dash lights or wiring in the light circuit with the rear light harness disconnected

My best guess would be in the area of the fuse panel behind the left kick panel

Above the fuses

Start with these ^^^ two first. Inspect tail light and clearance marker sockets and wiring for short to body ground. You do not need to be an electrical expert to see if a wire is touching body metal.
