I have a '94 T4R that is totally stock except AllPro rear springs to cure the sag, and a drilled air box. Nothing else is modified, no mudder tires (POS Les Schwab tires), no lockers, no lift, nothing. Well, I decided to take it off road to see how it would perform, and man was I amazed.

You NW guys know this place, called Reiter Pit, I took it out there, and basically went everwhere. There were only 2 places that I could not go, one being at the top of the mountain, there is a dirt road that is quite steep and a bit muddy. I could only make it half way up that due to traction on my street tires, and the other obstacle that stopped me was all the way on the other side of the mountain. To get there you first cross a large creek (approx. 2ft-3ft deep, up to 40 feet wide in areas), and go down an old trail which I have no idea what its original use was, to a creek bed coming down the mountain. Drive up that for a mile or so, and you come to an extremely rocky hill, and at the 3/4 point on that hill there is a 2 foot ledge that I didnt want to attempt, seeing if I broke something, I would be stranded.

If I would have had better tires, and a 4 inch IFS lift, I could have gone anywhere out there. Im not sure how significant this is, because its the only place Ive really had the truck, but I do know that it is a popular location, so all my babbling has to mean something.

Anyway, any of you other NW guys go out there? What kind of setups do you have, and how well do your trucks do?

The trail you're describing with the river crossing and the steep hill with the rock formation 3/4 up the hill is the Lake Isabel Trail. It's one of the more difficult trails at Reiter. It gets harder after the long uphill. Definitely need a locker to get to the end of the trail. You should try the Index Overlook (aka "The Wall") trail. I've seen a stock 1st gen make it through there (took 5 times longer than anyone else though). If you're interested, PM or e-mail me and I'll cruise out there with ya.

On Highway 2, past Sultan, just after Goldbar. On the left side of the hwy, if your traveling east, there's a firestation just before Reiter Road. It's about a 40 minute drive from the eastside.

Its a very enjoyable trail, at least what Ive found so far. I was looking through some of the threads about past events that happened there, and have realized that I only know a small part of it, so I need someone to show me around

 

I was gonna say you missed something if you were able to go "anywhere out there" I'm on 33" A/T's with open diff's and there was alot out there I didn't even think about trying.

 

You definately didn't hit all the trails if you were able to go everywhere. My avatar is my truck on the powerline trail down in the mud pit. The wall trail would definately be a challenge for you and probably give you some body damage.
