I went out and tried to measure that nut, looks like a 30mm. Can anyone conferm that for me?

i seem to remember it being a 32mm but if im wrong you'll hate me. I did this a while back and if i recall thats what it was. Make sure you restake the nut. Sorry im not much help on your 2 seal issue, I dont recall seeing a second seal.

Dont forget to restake the nut.

OH and what toyota dealer were u at hehe? pitt meadows?

Well, that does help I was looking at the FSM and it showed two seals right next to eachother... I just didnt want to tear it all the way apart and then find out I got the wrong seal..

I guess I could just go down to the maple ridge lordco and grab a 32 and see if it fits.. I only live 2 mins away from it

Yeah, I went to the pitt meadows dealer, im not a big fan of that place at all. I almost got into a yelling match with the manager and the "head" mechanic since they seemed to think I knew nothing about vehicles...
The parts manager is pretty cool, he actually knows about the "good" toyota trucks. The new parts kid is pretty chill too

Some stealership employees are USELESS. I had to fight for ten mins. to convince the parts guy that I had a 95 pu NOT A TACOMA. I had to bring him to the parking lot to look at the truck. Same guy told me there were 2 sets of split bushings on the rear shackles. So I used a drill to remove the old bushings from the spring only to find out it is a perminate part. AHHH. Now I have a BAD case of the squeeks.

Nope, im pretty limited when it comes to tools. Baisic hand tools is pretty much all I got!

A trip to the local parts store (lordco) reveils that it is indeed a 30mm bolt.
I got my socket, hopfally I can get'r'done today and move onto my other repairs..

You sure do!

Well, she is done! I had a little trouble getting the flange off, but a few taps with a brass drift and it slid right off.

I put red threadlocker on the threads, and I greased the splines (aswell as the new seal). I forgot about the silicone in the splines, hope I wont have any leaks.

I also managed to lose two 12mm bolts that holds the driveshaft/ujoint cover on... Good thing there is 4 !


- On a side note, I was thinking of pulling off the breather so I can check it for clogs. Im thinking it might have become clogged and the "companion" seal was the weak link.
I dusted off the cap of the breather, it moves fine, but in the case of my rear diff that means nothing! To my surprize it appears to not be removable. It does come out right? Just like the diff breathers?
