Well I might be picking up a set of 1988 4runner bucket seats. Anyways the question is are they a direct bolt in replacement for my 94 pickup which has a 60/40 split bench seat? Let me know.

 

The 2 outter bolts (closest to the door sides) should bolt right up. You'll have to drill 2 holes per seat. (right front and rear for the driver, left front and rear for pass.)

EWAYota your the man bro thanks a ton. Is it as simple as drill and bolt haha? I would imagine seat bolts are alittle different than something just simply bolted down but I guess we'll see.

 

The outter two bolts "SHOULD" line up in theory. Not always the case, but from going from Toyota to Toyota, should be close.

I swapped in some SR5 bucket seats from a 92 SR5 pickup into my 93 Deluxe Pickup a few monthes back - here is the thread with my info from my expierience - https://www.yotatech.com/forums/show...ht=bucket+swap

But the bucket seats from an 88 4runner, from my understanding considering that is an entirely different gen than the 90-95 4runners (2nd gen) and 89-95 pickups, are much different I would imagine.

I didn't drill any holes, too difficult. I fabbed a bracket for to hit one hole that was offset, and the other one I "manipulated" as it was a 1/4" off.

 

Since the answer has been found, I hope no one will mind if I hijack this thing...

Has anyone tried shifting the driver's bucket seat back about 4 inches? I'm 6'4" and I get sick of having to have my knees bent so much even with the seat reclined and pushed way back. Can I just take off the seat and drill 4 new holes?

 

I've swapped seats in other vehicles before, and the best way to do it is when you drill new hols, you want to make sure that the seat is secure. I've welded bolts in place underneath or - in a 70 chevy that was rusty - I made brackets for support out of aircraft aluminum so the bolts didn't just pull right through in an accident (or normal driving for that matter)

 

Rustbucket, I think you could just unbolt the seat from the sliding mechanism, and take a couple of pieces of steel flat bar or channel and easily fabricate a bracket to move it back while keeping the current bolt-to-frame locations. I am 6 4 too, but my 89 extended cab can slide far enough back that I cant reach the steering wheel without bending over. Maybe dome newer sliding things would help?

I think I read in one of the bucket seat threads that 4runner seats dont slide back as far as trucks. I havent ever looked though.

 

I'm trying to buy some leather seats out of a Caddy to install in my '89 XtraCab. I plan on unbolting the seats from the slider and fabbing an adapter plate like trythis suggested. I throw some pics if I ever get this chick to part with the seats.

 

Yeah they definitely don't go back as far as the trucks. My 93 PU would scoot farther back than this one. I also have longer arms than most 6'4" men, I wore a 6'7" basketball player's suit one time and the sleeves were just right

Maybe I could just get the rails that a pickup rides on and put those in? Anyone tried that?

 

Were buckets every offered in a reg cab, 89-95 model? If so are they like the bench and only half as deep on the back for max leg room. I am 6'4'' and dont have room to spare 2" for a deeper seat from a runner or xcab.
