I can see where it can be the start of upgrading the air intake system then one also has to increase the pulse of the injectors ,the cam, the size of the valves , the exhaust system to get rid of the increased volume of exhaust gases .

It seems to me to be one of those things that was part of a complete package that the rest of the upgrades fell through the cracks and were forgotten.

Like back in the olden days of my misguided youth building small and big block chevy engines.

It was easy to do the carb and headers but quite a few found doing the cam to much work and complained the carb and headers never worked like they were claimed to

LOL...I remember those days. Now I am just happy with a stock motor. I must be getting old.

I was talking to another member about the larger bore Throttle Bodies and we thought it might run the motor leaner, but also with the O2 sensor, it might sense it needed more fuel and it might would increase the injector pulse time. The computers in these trucks are very basic so they might not would compensate for the more air.
