sub oxygen sensor

94 toyota pickup 22re. does the sub oxygen sensor do anything to the fuel mixture or the preformance?

i think that's a california thing to let you know if your cat needs replaced or not... but i'm not sure and i bet you someone will post a different answer and make me look stupid lol. but it's all good. i think it doesn't do anything cause i've run mine without it before and nothing changes.

All it does is measure catalytic converter performance. If it goes bad, or is disconnected, it'll probably cause the CEL to illuminate, but won't affect performance.

i ask because its not there and the truck has been acting wierd. i jus needed to find out if it really affected the prefomance
