stupid belts!!!

Well today I went to replace my belts on my 93 22RE and I striped the bold on the idle tensioner. Now I cant loosen it to remove the belts... Is there any other way I can loosen the the belt to remove it. It is the one by the A/C compressor....

Thanks,
ChRiZ

Well you could cut if off but you'll never be able to get the the new one on without doing something with the tensioner.. I'd say easy out it or go find a new tensioner.

cut the belt off.....losen the nut that holds the actual pully on and then slide the pully off...then sense the tension is taken off the tensioner bolt you should be able to take it off with some channel locks or vicegrip.....then take the bolt to lowes or a machine shop and ask if they have a bolt like that...its just a standard bolt i dont know what thread but its metric most likely....once you get the new bolt from a store of your choice put your new belt on. thats the easiest thing i can think of. bottom line is you wont be able to get a new belt on unless you fix your tension bolt!

the tensioner is only for the A/C drive belt anyway... so if you dont get it fixed ASAP then no big loss this time of year....

but also in the cut the belt off camp. then you can remove the tensioner and either retap it for larger bolt, or get a replacement bolt...

I have already cut the belt off, but I can not loosen the nut. Three people already tried but the stupid thing wont budge... We have tried vise grips, and the channel locks but nothing. The bolt looks fine, but it the nut that wont loosen to remove it...

I want my truck back....

Where I am at we do need the A/C... this week it has been in the 80's with high humidity and no air. Last week it was in the 90's, so I do need A/C...
