Stuck in 4 Wheel Drive

I recently acquired a 95 4WD pickup with 22RE, 5 speed manual trans, and manual locking hubs. I used the 4 WD for the first time today but can't get it back into 2WD. Tranfer case shifted right into 4WD and goes easily between 4WD High and Low but I can't move the shifter back into 2WD. Tried it with truck stopped, in neutral, and clutch depressed. Any ideas??

Put the truck in reverse and try.

Thanks. I rocked the truck a little previously with no luck but after backing up 20-30 feet it shifted easily into 2WD.

Perfectly normal, result of drive line binding in 4WD. What I try and do is shift out of 4WD before hitting a high traction surface and while moving straight ahead without any recent turns. This way you shift out of 4WD before the drive lines and transfer case get bound up.
