I just got a 92 4-runner v6 auto it is stuck in 4-low I can put it into 4H and 2H but will not engage. When I had it in 2H I put it in Drive and gave it gas it tryed to move a little, there was no grinding noise.
thanks

Drive straight forward 6 feet, then try again...sometimes the driveline gets binded...

Did you try searching on this subject btw ?
ITs a really helpful feature...

i dont think they have a solenoid but i may be wrong. can you access the tcase from the cab? i would try and get in there and see if anything obvious is out of place, broken, worn off etc.

It revs like it is in nutral. I'm going drain and refill all the fluids and replace filters this week. I'll keep posted.

Did you buy it from a private party, or the stealership? Did you test drive it, first? If you didn't, why not?

i would first check the tranny level. if its low it wont go into gear or wont shift properly or it will shudder, and btw a drain and fill of the tranny is only about half the fluid. gotta think about all the stuff in the torque converter,
