Stripped Head bolts please help!
#21
The manual does not show the head bolts as single use items (on a 22RE, it does on a 3VZ). Many wrenches replace them anyway, on their personal vehicles at least. They will (or should) cost you WELL south of $300.
Your choice. I use ARP studs so that tells you where my vote is. Any threads subject to twisting or stripping are on top of the head, not down in the block, and 80 ft./lbs. is more clamping force than 58. Good grief, ARP studs were expensive at just a bit more than $100, I surely hope no one paid $300 for 22RE head bolts.
