strange timing cover leak...

strange timing cover leak...
It's me again....
I just finished my 22re back together and it was time to fill the radiator. easy right? I thought so too. I started to fill it and then it started to drip.... from the timing cover. right here between the block and the cover. I dont think it should be leaking water/coolant from there. I've tightened the bolts, torqued them, still no help. its a brand new cover and gaskets. I did put gasket sealant on both sides of the gasket before installing. Has anyone ever seen this before? do I do tear down again and try again?

that's not normal, you're right.
wish I had some awesome advice...I've done this job a few times and had the cover of at least three. Is it leaking anywhere else or JUST there? Did you put the gasket/sealer on, then the cover, then the bolts, then torque them - ALL AT ONCE....or did you snug it up first, then torque it a bit later once it had cured a bit? Did you fill up with coolant soon after putting it on, or wait for it to cure? These are the only things I could think of right now. Maybe others have better ideas.

I can always count on you Philbert. I put the cover on with sealant tightened it up and let the sealant set and then torqued it down. But I just realized I didn't put sealant on the bolt that's in the spot. So I'm pretty sure that's my problem. But would it make it leak between the cover and the block? Or since I forget to put sealant on should it be leaking from the bolt hole? I'll take better pictures when I get off work.

Yeah, for some bolts, especially the long one that goes thorugh the oil pump, you want to put extra sealant on the bolt...and it would leak from the bolt hole, not between the cover and block.
I'm stumped but looking forward to photos.

sorry it's been so long since I've updated this thread but here are the pictures from where it was leaking from
I'm not completely sure how but the leak stopped. Yes I did put gasket goop on where the leak was coming from, stupid mistake made out of frustration. It has since been cleaned off. I did put sealant on the bolt and let it sit for a day and it stopped, so I think that was my problem. If the problem picks back up I will update the thread. but now I'm having starter problems.

I had a leak in that same exact spot, tried the goop on the bolt before putting in, didn't work so I had to do the timing cover gasket... hopefully you don't have to do that yourself, some what of a pain.
