Strange problem - rocker assembly hitting valve cover
Hi all, hope someone can help point us in the right direction.
My son bought a 1990 toyota truck that we were told had a rebuilt 1995 motor. Long story short he replaced the head with a new remanufactured head from which he used his existing rocker assembly. The motor runs fine now but it’s making a racket apparently because the rockers are hitting the inside of the valve cover.
Any ideas what would be the most likely cause for this? Everything 90 through 95 should be the same right?
Thanks in advance!

you sure its because the rockers are hitting the valve cover? i'd remove the valve cover and take a look. and i'd also fire the motor up with the valve cover off to see if the noise is still there. did you check and adjust the valve clearances?

My Truck
I am the son of op and I own the 1990 toyota.
I just cracked it up with the valve cover removed, the noise is still there yet louder. My valve clearances are perfect. Could it possible be a flat spot on one of the camshaft lobes?
Thanks for the advice
