i run 33's on stock 4.10's,
i get great gas mileage on the freeway, 65 is achieved at 1800-1900 RPM. offroad, its not bad, just alot more 4lo.
acceleration SUCKS, but i dont drive fast anyway, i drive like my 90 year old grandmother!
bottom line, its ok, you might want to try it, if you cant stand it, you can always regear.

i have 4.10's and 33's and get about 11mpg city, rarely drive freeway.
offroad i dont notice it once i get into 4lo.
if i had the chance id still do it. the advantages of it far outweigh the negatives for me.

tank1, you are doing the right thing. Believe me. I've read just about every post on here regarding that stuff and had a long thread called "how much did you spend on regearing". Look it up. You are doing the right thing. You stick to that plan and use the extra tire money & regear money for a locker and sliders and you will wheel right by all these cats w/33" +, lifts & open diffs.

My 32's were quite painful for daily driving on the 4.10's but I did it anyway for about 10 years or so. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone but obviously depending on your level of tolerance it's possible and doable.

i completely revised my plan a few weeks ago. i was going to get 33x10.5 BFG MT's instead of 31's. with my stock 22re, and 4.10's, i knew i'd want to kill myself. so instead, i'm going to save for the gears (4.88's, rear e-locker, front ARB) then save for the 33's, and do it all at once.

I ran 31's (31x10.5x15 2 sets, and then 31x12.5x15 1 set) on my 4.10 gears for 7 years. When I decided to SAS my rig, I decided to save $$$$ in the longrun and to only regear ONCE. So, I went with 5.29's and now I have 37" tires on my truck. Regearing is pretty expensive so I am only doing it once.

Most of you are at sea level. Myself and Djlarroc are at 5,000 to 12,000 feet elevation, where oxygen is scarce. The old 22RE breathes even harder with big tires up here.
Believe me, 31's are a chore on stock gears here, but even at sea level I still wouldn't go to 33's. Regear or stick with 31's.

go with the 33's and the aussie, i run 35's with them gears for now, no problem, will re gear when i can$$$$
booo... my 22re does a good job!!!!!!!!!!!
