Steering Stabilizer nut missing??

Looked down at my Steering Stabilizer on my 94' 4x4 Pickup and noticed that the nut that holds the shaft for the steering stabilizer on the drivers side fell off and the stabilizer is not connected. Do I have to get a new stabilizer or which size nut / washer do I need to fix it?

Lost one of your nuts eh?

A decent hardware store should have them. The OEM nut was either a 14mm or 17mm, don't remember.

Isn't that one the castle nut, or is that the passenger side?

Either way, perhaps using a Nylock nut would help.

Mine hasn't been connected since I've owned it. As long as the steering is in good shape and your tires are reasonably balanced you don't really need it.

Have you had the centre link recall done yet? If not take her over to the dealer and they'll fix it when they put the new centre link on. If you have had it done then the mech. probably forgot to put the cotter pins in and the nut backed off.
When they did mine I was looking at it the next day and none of the nuts were pinned. I took it back and they fixed it right away. Those nuts must be pinned it is a major safety issue if they come loose.

they must pave the roads where you live. here in the magic state of maine where they dont like to spend money on paving the roads until they're gravel the steering stabilizer helps a lot.

doesent really matter the size of the bolt. just find something that'll fit,and a way to keep it on (locking washer, loctite)
