Last night after coming home I noticed that whenever I turn the steering wheel either left or right there is a squeaking sound coming from the front under the hood. I am not sure what the correct name of the bar is but its on the driver side in the engine compartment. From what I can tell its coming from that bar.

Does anyone know if its just something that needs to be lubed or replaced?

First off, I would check the power steering reservoir for fluid level. If it's not low, then try to pinpoint the sound with someone else at the wheel and you listening. Post results here, and I'm sure, more then one of the extremely knowledgeable members here can then help diagnose the problem!

Does the squeak occur with the steering wheel locked at either full right or left? That's the steering the stops. Just grease them.

hes talking about the rubber sway bar bushings, just pop em off and put a lil grease on em.

 

Mine squeaks from the plastic cover on the steering box that the shaft goes into. Follow the shaft coming out of the firewall down to the steering box and you will see the cover. A little bit of WD-40 will quiet it down for a long time. The horn mechanism on the steering wheel squeaks a little also. I put some di-electric grease on the big ring to make it quiet.

I also did check my sway bar bushings which turned out to be okay.

Also, I greased the stearing stops which helped greatly too!
