Steering-IFS to SOlid axle

I recently dove in on my SAS and have everything on and welded and ready to hook up my steering, and that's the problem, I don't know what I need. My iFS steering box goes downward and the steering arm from the axle has somesort of extension. What is a common way to get this done?eventually I'm gonna go to a high steer conversion, but don't have time and money to wait for it...Steering-IFS to SOlid axle-image.jpg

I'd love to have that setup but not sure exactly what I would have to buy, I've rea that I would need to get couple other things cuz it's longer or something. And also I'm not sure if I have enough clearance? Some say u need plenty of lift to run a high steer so it won't hit. How can I find that out before I buy a kit?

3 inches or more of lift. there's tons of threads on it.

I'm sure theres some some kind of way to do it but all the swaps I've seen go to high steer at the same time. Why wouldn't you just wait to get the high steer before starting the swap?

The whole minimum lift required really depends on the work you're willing to put in.

Well I decided to start it because I had a welder, plasma cutter available and a couple days off of work. And had just got a set of axles with gears an lockers. It was one of those things if I don't start on it I never will. Will the hi steer kit be all I need? Or is there other modifying ill have to do most likely? Is the drop pitman arm for 86+frames? I noticed the flat pit arms I've seen have been on earlier frames where the front of the frame goes downward.

You may need to relocate the steering box, rotate it some. Seems to be different for some people, but most relocate/rotate the steering box and use a flat pitman arm. Other than changing your steering box to a push pull style from an 85 or older rig. Easier to do high steer.

Good thing you didn't post this on Pirate.

Hi steer is part of a SAS, so yes you need it.
