Steering Center link?

I have a 1987 2wd Toyota pickup. The ball joints on my center link is bad. Do i have to replace the whole link or can I just replace only the ball joints? If so how do i. Ty for help

You replace the whole thing and I would highly suggest spending a little more money and buying a good one rather then the cheapest crapy one sold at autozone or orileys.

Before you do that, call the dealer with your VIN and make sure it's not subject to the relay rod recall. (I don't recall the applicable years.)

And since Toyota felt it worth a recall to put in a beefier one, I'd spring for the $200 to go OEM. http://www.toyotapartsoverstock.com/...chString=relay

That recall is for 4x4s, not 2wd

My 87 two wheel drive didn't fall under the recall as well. Toyota should of recalled them as the Relay Rod is a poor design. The passenger side is the side to really check for on these two wheel drive trucks.
