Unhappy Starting issues

Just got everything hooked up after the motor swap. Last thing was to try starting. Turn the key on, all accessories amd lights working. Turn key to start and nothing. no sound from the starter at all. Checked all connections and they're good. Took starter out and tested with jumpers from the battery and it worked. Is this an issue with the starter relay? Or the small wire that clips on to the starter? We used a wire tester to check for any juice and that wire doesn't have any. Is it supposed be hot? I traced it back to the starter relay and it's all intact. How do you know if your relay is bad? i know nothing on the electrical system. Any help is very much appreciated.

put a test light on the starter accy wire, the small one to the starter and try to start it and see if you are getting power there. If not pull the relay and stick the test light into the connector and try to see if your getting power ther . If you are getting power when you try the key , then I would say it might be the relay, if not then I would say the ignition switch in the steering column, Or check the ground going to the motor and frame that was my problem last year

muddbogg21...

Ground behind the motor? I never even noticed that there was one. So where do I look for it at?
