You got it, I think the starter realy is the one farthest the firewall. Come to think of it, it might be an ignition ciruit relay (same thing) but I changed them both for good measure (lots of spare parts).

Yeah well...Just being Yota and the way their built is the problem for anyone of us that owns and enjoys Yota's.....when they're at their best.
I wouldn't trade my for anything(except a new/newer 4runner).

Blueyoda....You said the relay farthest from the fire wall is the starter relay(or is it called ignition circut relay)?

What's the other relay? Considering you changed them both and I'm considering the same, but I wanna make sure which one is which.
You know how some of the parts store unhelpers are. I called Autozone and Advanced Auto. Neither has a listing for a "starter relay". Should I be asking for an "ignition circut relay",or should I be calling the stealership?
Agian,if you changed both of them relays, what's the other one (closest to firewall)?

874runnersr5... what your showing me is under your hood. Look at my pics I posted. My under the hood looks very different than what you have. In your picture, the black relay looks similar to my relays ....behind the glove box,and I have 2 of the black relays. Which I'm trying to decifer which one is the starter relay.
Thanx for your help, but don't think what your showing me is gonna help me in this case.

BlueYoda...you have me confused brutha.
Here is the pic of the relays behind the glove box,and on the passenger side floor kick panel. This is what you said were the "starting relay/ignition circut relay".

Funny thing is. When I called the stealership about obtaining a "starting relay/ignition circut relay",he (and the Chilton manual that I have) both say that the relay I'm looking for is under the hood, driver side, close to the firewall).

Which I either don't have in that place or just can't locate it. Theirs not much their in that spot under my hood.
The relays in the pic, that you say were the one's Im looking for? Dude at the stealership said that they are the heater relays.
Who is correct here? I'm lost and need to better figure this problem out.
He asked me for the number off the relay under the hood, but I can;t locate it to give him a number,so I can't even go to him and see the part to know what I'm looking for. He has to order it. $75.00.

Well I am not sure what to say. The mechanic at the stealership told me exactly where the relays were, and they are there, and he told me that this is a common problem with 89-95 trucks and runners. THIS WAS THE TOYOTA MECHANIC, that came out to my rig and showed me where they were. THIS SOLVED MY PROBLEM COMPLETELY. so I am not sure why your dealership has an issue. I AM NOT SURE what he called the relay, but I changed it and the problem went away. ASK THE DEALER WHAT THOSE TWO RELAY ARE FOR? they should know that.

The relay is in one of those pics you posted under the hood next to the diagnostic port.
The relay itself should say "starter relay" on it.

I had a similar problem to yours and after replacing the starter it turned out to be a bad connection to the battery.

If you do end up changing it out take the passenger side tire off and the access plate and you can have it out in 30 min.

Snotrocket...
The pic of the junction, that I posted, from under the hood. That whole assembly in the pic is on the passenger side, inner fenderwell. My manuals and stealership all say that it is on the driver side, under the hood,or (Chilton says it could be by driver, inner kickboard, junction). I have looked everywhere. Nothing that says "Starter" on it. The under the hood junction pic...beside the diagnostic port?
These part numbers(beside the diagnostic port) on all the relays in the junction, nowhere near match the part number the stealership gave me.
(#28300-16010)
On the driver side under the hood, their is a black relay with 4 wires going into it,but that relay has absoloutly no numbers on it at all, except "12v".
The only other thing on the driver side under the hood,is an "igniter" (w/a # and a "coil w/ignitor"( w/ a #). neither matching the # I was given.
Should I just shoot it and end my problems?
How F%&$#N hard can it be to find a starter relay?

P.S. I did notice during my dashboard disassembly (while installing a stereo/looking for starter relay),that right beside the igition switch,on the same housing,it looks like a relay, but I havent disassembled anything that far to get a closer look? Is this it? I doubt it....
