This is what it looks like after day 1. What do you guys think of my first time? (sry for the huge pics)

looks good but dont be scared to remove the paint, you are going to have to paint it again anyway. take your time and weld the entire seam one side first and then the other so it doesn't warp. make sure you get some etch prime on that, they make weld-through etch primers. when you go to do the body work on rust repair use dura-glass or some fiberglass based body filler. unlike bondo it is resistent to water and won't crack out.

ok thanks for the info. The body filler that i bought is a fiberglass type, lots of fibers in it and the can said it was waterproof. I will be working on that tonight. Ill post more pics later.
