SR5 Cluster question (manual cluster fitting in an auto rig)

I know this has been talked about a lot and i have searched but I couldnt find anything specificly to a manual tranny cluster fitting in an auto tranny rig. I bought a cluster from an 89 4runner w/ 22re 5spd for cheap hoping it will fit into my 89 4runner w/ 22re automatic. Does anyone know if it will be a direct fit (minus the ECT button no longer working on the cluster)Thanks

So are you saying that the clusters are all exactly the same where auto or manual except for the manual not having some bulbs that the auto would have?

I just took all the lights out of the back of the cluster and found that the cluster did have an AT Temp light on it like you stated. It also has the T-Belt on it but it had no light on it so im guessing this is because the 4 cyl didnt have a Tbelt? So basically if there is no light in the hole then the truck didnt have have that option or whatever on it. Anyone know where i can get these bulbs at?

On my cluster swap on my '85, I put an EFI, manual trans cluster, in my '85 EFI auto. As yota4runna says, ya gotta replace the oil pressure switch with the oil pressure sender.
You'll lose the ECT indicator light, which ya don't need anyway. Most important for me was the need to compare the wiring harness plug from the manual donor truck, with my auto wiring harness. I had to rearrange some wires in my auto harness plug to make em match the same wires in the manual harness plug. Ya need a sharp pointed tool to release the catch holding the wire in place. After that, it was plug and play, and everything worked right.

damn this swap is turning out ot be a damn headache. I got the oil pressure sender from parts source and they gave me the wrong one, its to small ... so i unplugged it anyway to test out the SR5 cluster. After finally ripping out the old cluster with the damn anoyying speedocable i attached everything back and its not working properly. The Fuel Guage reads at FULL even tho there is barely any gas in it, the speedo doesnt work and the tachometer doesnt work either. Some lights on the left side dont work either.. Anyone know what it could be?

BTW cluster is out of a 89 4runner special edition 22RE 5spd
and i have a 89 4runner special edition 22re auto

Watch out for Niehoff (sp?) the parts number referance was wrong at Schuck's or manucactor. Look like the correct sender but fried the gauge all the same

They gave me a correct sender and my money back. Now need another sr5 cluster. oh well.

bumping an old thread...

I just did this with my '87. I haven't changed the oil sender yet, but it cost me $40-ish from Pep Boys.

One question I have, though, is what is the friggin' part number for the smaller bulbs in the back? The old (non-tach) instrument cluster only had one size of bulbs -- the bigger ones. The new one has two sizes and I managed to come up one or two short of the smaller ones.

None of the non-dealer shops had the bulb listed. The dealer quoted me $2/ea and said they didn't have them in stock (and didn't volunteer the p/n, of course).

Speed sensor no. 1 is in the instrument cluster which the ECT control unit reads. Only auto cluster has it.
