Squeaking sound

Hello, I have a 94 reg cab pickup with a 22re motor. I have been noticing a squeaking/whining sound coming from my engine when in 1st-3rd gear after about 3k rpm. After I let off the gas to shift, it goes away. We were changing the oil today and I told my dad about it. He pulled on the belts near the fan, and he told me the one closest to the engine was the squeaking one. Now to my question. What are the 2 belts called, and how easy are they to install. I've got about 58,1xx miles, and I dont think they've been replaced.

most likely your serpentine belt. i had basically the same problem. it should be a pretty easy fix. just have to tighten the belt up a little. if ur belts are gettin worn down and u just want to replace them it gets more expensive and such, but not rly a bad idea. the s-belts are about $70-100ish.

Never had to replace a belt on my 22-re, but are you sure it uses a serpentine belt, and not multiple accessory belts?

The 22R uses V-belts. The one closest to the engine is the fan, waterpump, and alternator belt. When you change it, you should change all of the belts since they will have to come off anyway.

Replace all three belts. You can get all three of the premium belts at Autozone or equivalent (they're all the same!) for about $35. Cheap & peace of mind for several thousand miles.
