Spraying oil

Hello, all 91 4runner 3.0 sr5 auto. I was driving to dallas last week and first thing that was wrong the tranny would not stay in overdrive so that made it a loud trip with high rpms around 3900-4000. I stoped for gas and could smell burning oil so I checked it out could not tell where it was coming from. So I keep driving when I arrived at the hotel in garland and parked there was alot of oil dripping from the drivers side so I poped the hood and there was oil all over the drivers side wheel well and the alternator and felt like there was some under the distributer cap help pls and what would cause the tranny to not stay lock in od.Thanks

The oil was not even a half quart low and the color and smell of the oil looked to be the same as engine oil

Is the crank pulley wet with oil?

Any oil on the hood?

about your tranny. stick a screw in the vaccuum line going to the top of the egr valve. if your tranny shifts properly, you have a bad egr valve, if not then take the screw out.
