Split shift

Looking for info pertaining to converting the standard topshift tcase in 86-89 runner into a split shift... before i get flammed by some dual case fanatics, ive seatched around but cant find the info i want. I am curious for this for no logical reason other than “could i do it?”. I know guys end up with split shift cases for running duals, which i do not intend to do, just looking for a write up on setting it up in a single case.

pretty sure you are using the term wrong. split shifting to me (after driving for 35+ years from 6x6 5 ton army trucks to 10 yard dumps on down) means shifting and double clutching.
You want Twin Sticks.
As long as you for sure have a top shift you can install twin sticks. If it's forward shift, no go.

Do you have a 3.0 V6, or the 22re 4 cylinder? The 3.0 has a chain drive case, and the 22re a gear drive. Front Range Offroad here in Colorado is the only vendor I know who sells a twin stick for the chain-drive case. I have one and it works well. I love it. Lots of vendors (Marlin Crawler, Trail Gear, Front Range, and others) have the twin stick for the gear drive cases.

i have the gear driven case on a w56b tranny with a 22re. Looking at doing a marlin 4.7 low gear set with a twin stick. Id like to make it look pretty, anyone seen any leather shift boots for twin sticks?
