Question Speed Sensor Questions

Is there any way to bypass the speed sensor in a 1985 yota with a 22re Auto...I have put my own guages in and didn't realize i took the speed sensor out as i was doing it. If so...i need to know wire colors because i just have a lot of wires and a plug left.

Unfortunately the speed sensor is integrated into the cluster. Best option at this point would be to get an electrical sender from a later truck and an electrical speedo if you're going all custom.

Ok i have tracked the wires down that run the speed sensor, it is green witha blue stripe, can i let the sensor spin with the cable and make things work that way?

also i know where the green with Blue stripe goes, but i do not know where the other wire goes...is it to ground???

Worth a shot. Unfortunately the extent of my knowledge on the subject is wholly contained within my last post .

I dont think so ... speed sensor is actually in the speedo assy , not the cable .. far as I know ... it will just leave an "open loop" and send a code to the computer . If you dont hook up the "check engine" you wont have a "light on" .

I'm not sure of the total effect this will have overall . I think most guys just leave it .

I did a 22re into a /82 but I used an earlier 84 <--- eFI engine for this reason exactly .

It will work, i put the cable back in and hooked to the speedo and the hooked the green with blue stripe wire up where is goes and grounded the green wire and is shifted...who would have ever thought.

I took the speedo out of the cluster and the 2 wires i needed.

I like the idea i was given to put a electric sensor in from a newer truck that is just off the trans and run my wires to it. with will be my next project

thanks
