Got my relay rod replaced and the alignment done. It was perfect when I took it in (alignment wise). They dealer gave me the truck back stating that it took so long to do because the tech had trouble aligning it. I drove it home and it veered badly to the right (this is after the work). Took it back a week later when I had the time, and was told that my truck had broken parts, particularly the eccentric bolt. I was pretty angry they gave me a truck back that had broken parts on it. They made good on fixing it, so I can't be too mad, but should not have had to take it back the three times that I did.
That said, the new relay rod is much thicker than the one originally equipped.

Not to dig up an old thread, but I just bought a 92 xtra cab pickup, after I blew the tranny in my 87 4runna, and I had some downtime at work the other day, so I decided to call Toyota Canada and see what they said bout my new wheels. Turns out, the guy who owned it before me had the campaign done to it last year! Now, time to run the vin on my 89 xtra cab!

Simply. Fricken. Amazing----just punched in the VIN for the '91 4Runner. Survey says?
'Please make an appointment with your nearest authorized Toyota dealer as soon as possible'.....
(Hey Detroit, ya listening?.......

What website did you use? Or, better question being, how did you look it up?
Just got mine back today. $0.00 invoice, and they did not try to sell me a thing. Dropped it off last night and they (Ensign Toyota in Logan, UT) gave me a call at about 10 this morning. Can't tell if the alignment is good or not though, it seemed like it was pulling a little, but the wind was blowing hard and snow was starting to come down. I will have to take it for a spin in some less inclement weather.

I took my vin into the parts guy at my local Yota dealer and he pulled up my vehicles history and said that my vehicle hadn't had the recall done and to get with the service dept and they would do it. I have a '92 and this is 2011 amazing.

Drive Shaft or Transfer Case Issue: Possibly $2,500 fix?
Hello to all. We're now proud owners of 95 4Runner SR5, 3.0V6, Auto, 4x4, etc... Was immaculate clean, purchased through dealer. Thank God not a CA original as Fed smog regs mean one O2 sensor vs two here. Found out by "mistake" at dealer it just had the head gasket job at 145K right before we bought it. Previous owner traded it for Tacoma. CarFax did NOT indicate any work had been done nor any problems detected. So much for carfax!
The cat was soon stolen (want to know who repaired it? the place where your pipe dreams come true) so had new larger cat back exhaust installed (welded this time too). I have found a few other problems too. Most important is when I drive between 40-65mph there's a loud deep hum/vibration coming up through gear shift lever. Dealer says my transfer case end bearing has too much play making the drive shaft spin out of balance---wants $over $1k just to remove/inspect. Dealer says transfer case must be replaced as drive shaft has too much play where it connects to transfer case. It turns "out of round" according to dealer.
They also say very loose l/f bearing which may damage spindle. It has some kind of short circuit too. When lights are on, r/r indicator plus brake lamps go completely off when brakes are applied.
Any opinions/advice?
Also, due to my own fault, while trying to clean around air intake I caused a fault code on air temp sensor. Does that mean I need to replace the whole thing or can it be fixed?
Otherwise, if climbing highway offramp & push button to take it out of overdrive, the rpms go up (as expected) but then they drop down as if I'm letting up on gas pedal. Is that a sign of weak fuel pump?

I just made my appointment at Mark Jacobson Toyota of Durham (NC) for the steering relay rod. They said it would take about an hour. We'll see how it goes...I really need an alignment, so I hope they have no problem including it in the recall. I will report back the outcome.

Engine issue rear 2 cyl will not fire.
1990 Toyota SR5 4x4 with a 22re. Changed out engine, tranny, wiring harness and computer. New engine will only run on front 2 cyl. We've checked spark, compression, fuel, distributor and every thing else I could figure still only the 2 front cyl will fire and only with starting fluid. After it runs on the first 2 cyl1, the plenum for the rear 2cyl is cold. Any help would be great. Thanks

I hope your question got stuck here by accident. If not, this question needs to be posted in a different thread.

I just stumbled on this thread this morning... Typed in my VIN to the link above... Found my rig was under recall(code 50N)... Called dealership... and 5 hours later I have my Runner back and cant stop smiling! This is the first time I have dealt with Toyota of Santa Cruz and I was blowin' away by their customer service and prompt work. They didnt say one thing about ALL the modifications I have done(thinking it might void recall??). The steering relay rod they replaced is way beefier. They also aligned the front end(which I was planning to anyways with my new tires) and replaced a brake pad spring. All I paid was $8. bucks for was the brake pad spring!!
This will make me feel much more comfortable on those long road trips with my family.

I really don't wanna have to mess with it though. just won't stop with the wheel turned lmao
