Spark plug removal

Good evening. Changing plugs on my 91 truck with 22re engine. No problem with 1st three from the front. Cannot get back one out. cannot get either spark plug socket I have to fit. Feels like cannot get all the way down to seat. Shined a light down and this plug looks much older and dirtier than first three. Appears last owner had same issue and could not replace either. Plug does not appear to be stripped. Thoughts or ideas appreciated!

Thanks Roy

PB Blaster every few hours for a day or so.

You'll need to put your extensions down in parts because the angle is odd between the plug, exhaust manifold, and tight clearance to the firewall.

Slide the plug socket down. Then a 3" extension. Then another 3" extension. And finally your ratchet.

If your worried about the threads, get the motor warm. Then loosen a 1/4 turn then tighten and 1/8 and repeat.

All good advice and thanks for the tips! However the old plug was a 5/8 and not a 21mm! Why the previous owner changed 3 and not 4 is beyond me???

Because of laziness.

I found all kinds of shortcuts on my runner thanks to the PO. Glad to hear you got it out without pulling the threads!
