well got my new motor in everything running hunky dory and well as life goes, something happened to my transmission.. i was driving at about 40 mph gas it a little gas thru a light and heard a loud bang underneath and my truck redlined all of a sudden.. put it in nuetral and something in the transmission is still banging/clunking as the wheels turn.. putting it in gear the truck moves no where only revs up and whenever it is pushed /towed a horrible banging inside is heard andd gets faster with speed.. any ideas im getting ready to do a new clutch etc ordered the kit from JT outfitters but im wondering if this has happened to anyone else or if someone can provide some insight as to what i might see... thanks in advance

 

it sounds like a shaft on the inside of the trans has gone and broke, have u looked under to make sure that its not the rear drive line just banging around down there, i thinking that u are going to have to do more then just a clutch look for a trans to replace urs.

 

Pull the drain plugs on the trans and t-case and see which one ˟˟˟˟s a ton of metal out, could be either one.

 

transfer case works if i slip it in neutral the truck rolls without noise but once driveshaft is hooked up thru transfer csae it gets noisy

 

Sounds like you've had yourself a catastrophic transmission failure. Time to hit up your local message boards and craigslist for another trans.

 

shameless bump and does anyone have a w56 D i believe since im a 92 year if so gimme a price i dont really feel like shelling out another 1300 bucks plus core for a marlin, might get a used one and sell it, i hate to tho it has a brand new motor and cam and is super clean painted new 33s 4 inch lift 2 inch body nice rims system, lsd, etc any ideas on price guys or im interestedin trades i like 4 runners!!

 

also how hard would it be to swap to a automatic? i only ask since my wife is 5 ft and she can barely reach the clutch
