Solution to my bad engine...
I traded for a '94 4runner back in September of last year, turned out it had a rod knock that I missed. I've driven it a few times since then (just a few miles each way) and it's done alright, but it has also started to leak coolant around the back on the intake somewhere). I drove it today and the water pump seized and broke the belts. Obviously the engine is toast and it's time for a new one.
The problem is my wife is currently unemployed and I'm not getting full salary at the moment and barely scraping by. I need this truck back on the road and I think I have a way to buy another engine.
Here's my idea.
I start a website (name TBD), I setup a PayPal account and accept donations of $1. That donation will include a chance to win half of the money collected by guessing how long the engine will run stationary at full throttle until it kicks a rod through the block, in it's current state (rod knock, seized water pump, etc.).
What do you think?

#1If its still running then it is still good
#2 It might be cheaper to tear into it and rebuild it than blowing it and finding a good
#3 Why wast a perfectly good engine just because it makes noise and the water pump locked up #4 I'll put $10 on 7 minutes

Well it's not going to happen. Looks like there is no provision in the Missouri law for what I'm wanting to do. Games of skill are allowed, but you can't charge for them. Raffles are allowed, but the ticket must drawn randomly. So, guess I'll pull the engine and see if I can rebuild the bottom end cheaply...
