So I'm going to lunch at work yesterday when....

...I decide in my lethargy to get some fast food so I can expidite my trip to the grave on a cholesterol binge...lol So alas, I pull into burger king. I pull up to order a 9 piece chicken fries. To do so I have to speak a little louder than usual as my burbling loping idle was being a bit more melodramatic than usual courtesy of the wall next to my truck...lol

(mods this is 89-95 4runner related, just wait...)

Once the order is placed, I gun the engine and with the happy glee akin to that of a child, notice a light force pulling me into the seat. I get off the gas and coast forward, knowing all was right with the world as the next track from Mudvayne starts on my system. Exhaust burbling and loping all the while.

"For Sale 4600 obo 867-5309" Is the sign on the back window of some late 90's, white, 4 door sedan that has 2 occupants inside. (Mind you my system was on volume 8 meaning only I can hear it...besides I love listening to the melodious loping chorus from my exhaust!) In front of him was some HoopT of some make or fashion, I couldnt quite tell.

My daydreams of a heavily loping, bigblock equipped, 4runner staging at the track were rudely interrupted by the white sedan in front of me "cranking up" his system. It was pathetic honestly. The HoopT in front of him, hearing this immediately fired up his system in response. And for the first time in a LONG time I thought, "hmmm not too shabby for a HoopT!"

Having found a worthy opponent sound-system-wise I switched sources over to my MP3 Alpine Changer which, just coincidentally (,) has one of the meanest songs for my truck already que'd up.

Subwoofer to 13/15
Volume to 30/35
Balance to 0
Fader to 0
Remote Gain to 1/2
Close rear window
Open both front windows
Close both rear door windows
Put transmission in neutral and revv engine slightly
Wait

And with a bone jarring, breathtakeing, eyepopping fury the auditory onslaught began. All focus of anything is lost. Breathing is lost. Random objects such as full cans of mountain dew are vibrating around on the seats, beads hanging from the mirror shake a full 3 inchese side to side in the sympathetic vibrations. The mirrors wildly danced to a beat of their own drum in a mezmerizing fashion. The door frames themselves flexing a full inch...

After 10 sustained seconds of 7.6 kW rms power I silenced the Digital Designs 9915 with the volume.

Immediately the guy in front of me in the white sedan said "HEY MAN TURN THAT BACK UP!!"

So I obliged, and again the 2 dd 9915s worked in concert to lay waste to my inner ears and anything insdide of 500+ yards. During this time the HoopT fired up his system AND the passenger from the white car between us got out and apparently started to judge who was louder.

With even more childlike glee, I to see him point to me and give me the thumbs up! At which point my subs were begining to stink so I again turned down the system. The HoopT infront, apparently mad that he got "shut down," as the Burger King drive through attendant said, got his food and peeled out in anger as he left. (I didnt know a 5.7L from '76 could make 20s spin!) LOL Once I got to the window the BK attendant was like "omg duuude what the hell have you got in there, you shut them BOTH down!!"

me - '2 15s'

"omg man turn that back up for a second!!"

me - 'ok' and i turned my system back up and made every customer inside give me dirty looks as I made the burger king attendant's shirt flap from a good 4 feet away....hehehe

I then paid and slowly drove off enjoying the rest of my lunch break, filling my belly with hot, tasty, chicken fries when I came to a stupendous conclusion:

I love my truck!

(see mods I told you it was 89-95 4runner related! )

why's that?

Are you operating on some false stereotype thinking that Im one of thos jackholes that drives through your neighborhood at 2am? Think again bub! When the sun goes down the system gets turned down. When the light is red the system is turned DOWN.

And for the record Im FOR sound ordinances!

Dammit Molly - why did you have to send me the link to this? I WANT MY OLD TRUCK BACK!

My old truck had 8 - JL12W0 in a ported box with about 7000w on them and this kinda stuff happened ALL THE TIME! They would be looking around going - it can't be the guy wearing a tie in the lifted Toyota, can it? Indeed it was....

hahahaha nice! Im mainly into just how loud you can get!

dB Drag is my game. I went to world finals in 2003 and havent been back since due to financial issues... The one year I went I tried to do too much at the last minute and got SCREWED over for it. lol

I was planning on making a run last year for WF, but my HG popped right after SBN, and I havent been in the lanes since. Set a few short lived records here and there but thats it picked up a LOT of 1st places. It's still fun and thats why I still have the fire... Though it doesnt burn as much as it used to.

I was the opposite - mostly a SQ vehicle, but hung out with a lot of SPL guys, so I put in the wall to give me an edge in what used to be called SQ+. Here's a pic of the bed area:

It would do a little over 150dB, but I didn't have a lot of opportunity to really tune it before I did this:
