86 22RET 4x4 AUTOMATIC (dunno what trans tho , but shifter on the floor?). SOOO my truck has been making some horrendous noise and after looking around on here I had figured it out for the most part. Missing and loose bell housing bolts. I WAS missing one that goes through the bell housing to the block, found a replacement one at Autozone, little shorter but does the job.

BUT to what I need, the flywheel bolts that connect that plate to the torq converter were allllll super loose and missing two. Anyone know the dimentions of one them so I can go and get one fom autozone? is the thread pattern 1.25? and about how long and M? size....

Thanks a million. Back off at 10:30 pissin everyone off worin on the truck and the looseness of the bolts everywhere. Sigh

Thanks for the web sight works great except it only tells you part numbers and I cant figure out how to cross reference it yet. I called the Toyota dealer the other day and talked to them about it but they weren't willing to help really, parts were going to take about a week to come. I think i might just go home take one out, and just the wifes car to go match one up at the parts store I hope. UNLESS someone has a size for meeeee lol

That right there is your best bet. Heck I've pulled into Napa and taken things of my rig in the parking lot to match them up.

Those are not just the run of the mill bolts. They are hardened and need to have locktite applied during installation. If the parts stores have designated torque converter bolts then use them. But I strongly recommend you do not use the off the shelf bolt. Ask the counter guy to get you the actual correct bolts if you want to have a safe and reliable truck.

BTW, TwstedTurbo you do not have a flywheel. It's a flexplate

Yea do not use crap bolts. I think it was 91 toyota who used some bolts from a hardware store for his flywheel, then a week later he said they all broke off.

From toyodiy.com. Bolt size is 8-1.25P x 12 - 8.4 grade. I would agree on ordering factory bolts. Good luck.

Buy the bolts at the dealer and they should have them in 2 to 3 days. A week is BS. I get stuff at my local dealer all the time and even if coming from CA warehouse it doesn't take a week and Im in AL. Most fine thread metric bolts you won't find locally of the right hardness or coating.

Also if you have a tranny shop in town (and you probably do) you should be able to buy a few from them.
There are actually even several tranny supply shops here in 'lil 'ole Tucson that have 'em.

Well i printed off the sheet from http://www.toyodiy.com/ and went for a ride to Orlando and get the bolts I needed. $5.88 total. Now off to autozone for some locktight and replacing them. Odd part tho is it has 2 part numbers 5 bolts were "standard" as he said and Mike Erdman near me SHOULD of had in stock, but ONE random one was special order that would take a week. But he didnt know why one was a specialty bolt.

Just some FYI re: bolst for these trucks.

With a few rare exceptions, they are ALL 1.25 thread pitch.
Given that, they will eitehr be m6, m8,m12m or a few m14.

They key is, when you get a replacement from say a fastener store, you have to ask for J-spec metric. E-spec is more common and 95% of average hardware stores will be this instead. The difference is the ratio of the head size to the shaft.
E.g. J-spec M8 will be 12mm head, m10=14mm, m12=17mm.
E is 13mm, 17mm, and 19mm resprectively.

Often no big deal, except can be extremely annoying when you have to remove it later and what should be the correct wrench dosn't fit.
