The dealer here in town has been pretty good and they are always courteous. My initial takeaway from this most recent experience doesn't have anything much to do with the guys behind the counter, just the price. $113, for 4 wires. That's more than the 1/10th of the cost of my runner

I think I'm going to go Denso. Denso is an OE manufacturer and is held in very high regard. I can't imagine their wire set would be just complete crap. That being said, even if I have to replace the plug wires 5x as often with the Denso's vs the OEM I'm still coming in at almost $40 less. Seeing as how I'd probably replace the wires every 40-50k or so, I'm sure both sets come in above the threshold.

You need to learn how to order OEM parts online. Nobody pays dealer prices anymore...

Well, I know how to order parts online fine

Actually, Gary at Toyota of Newnan has beat all the online prices of OEM Toyota parts I've seen online from a few major Toyota parts websites (toyotaoempartsworld.com, toyotapartszone.com, Camelback Toyota, etc) and was super easy to deal with. He came recommended to me and I highly recommend him for parts. I'll be ordering more from him in the future.

I used the local dealership for small stuff or when the benefit of getting it sooner outweighs the benefit of lower pricing. I've gotten a few gaskets and o-rings that way and since I was checking on parts I thought I'd check on some basic stuff like wires. The disparity in pricing is eye opening for sure.

I need a tune-up, according to some smoking and the worn spark plug electrode I saw on plug#1, so I found the Denso wires and plugs (W16EXR-U, per the FSM) easy enough. But whose cap and rotor are you using? RockAuto offers Airtex/Wells as the OE Replacement parts but they're pretty cheaply priced. Just checking.

I get my plugs, rotor, cap, oil filter, cap o-ring from the dealer. These parts are not much more then the parts store. I get the my wires from ebay.

Denso Plug Wires ... http://www.ebay.com/itm/250854901322...84.m1438.l2649

Hey hows a going man. I went OEM on the rotor and cap. I talked to Gary at Toyota of Newnan - he's able to beat the prices of the online OEM parts stores I've searched.

I just dug out my receipt for the order. Here are the prices -

Dist Cap - 13.62
Dist Rotor - 8.45

Toyotaoempartsworld.com prices -

Dist Cap - 13.79
Dist Rotor - 8.56

Toyotapartszone.com prices -

Dist Cap - 14.26
Dist Rotor - 8.85

Not only that, but because it is a phone order, they can usually stuff the parts into the smallest box that will fit, which could save on shipping.

They were also very cordial. Gary if you are reading this, thanks man!
