So I'm wrestling the oil filter out today on my 1994 pickup (2wd) and I here a snap, lo and behold I broke something. To be quite honest I don't exactly know what it is either, it looks like maybe a ground or a sensor? It's right below the filter. It goes into a wire bundle, so my questions are:
1. What is it?
2. How to replace it
3. Is it ok to drive with it broken?

Help?

 

on my 91 22re it's the oil sending unit.Do you have oil pressure?? Cause one time I got my oil changed at a fast service center I lost oil pressure after and here they knocked the wire off removing the filter..

 

Found it! Indeed oil pressure sensor. At parts store now picking up a new one! I had a panic moment there
