Smog a 3.4 swap questions
I'll be finishing up a 3.4 conversion soon.
Any hints or tips on passing the smog referee?
Anyone made it through with the ORS crossover? How did you do it?

I don't have to worry about the emissions tests, here, but I put my '02 3.4 together with the ORS crossover, and 2 Magnaflow cats, to mimic the double cat set-up on the Taco.
I'm confident that I could pass smog, if I needed to.
I do trip a cat code on the OBD II, very occasionally. I haven't figured out why, or noticed any particular pattern when it trips, as of yet.

In Colorado your are supposed to get it inspected and certified as a swaped engine. They inspect that all of the "new" engines emmision componets are present and you have no pending codes for OBD-II. They sign off the swap is legit and you get to go to the emmisions lane.....
I've never done this though, they test them as older 2nd gens with older standards and the vehicles "fast pass". My 4runner passed the road side testing vans standards this year so I don't even have to go to the lane.
In Cali I would expect that the emmisions lane person is "smarter" (better trained) then the Colorado guy and catch that you have a swap. That being said you might want to go try it if your Check engine light is off and everything look ok.
