That's about the best way I can describe the noise...like slurping the last bit of something with a straw. Anyway, I have another post on this in my knock sensor replacement thread, but figured a new thread would garner more attention for this particular problem.

As for some background, I replaced my knock sensor yesterday which meant I drained the coolant, removed the hose connected to the throttle body, the throttle body itself, a bunch of hoses on the passenger side connected to the intake manifold (labeled them nicely in the process), the EGR related stuff over three, the idler pully, and finally the intake plenum.

I replaced the plenum gaskets as well as the manifold gasket. Made sure all of the hoses were properly replaced and secured. Didn't have any leftover bolts/parts, so that was good.

So far, I've driven around 30-40 miles in town and on the highway and everything is running like a top! No check engine light thus far. I kinda figured it would throw one due to the fact that I had code 52 and 71. Maybe replacing the knock sensor fixed the EGR issue? I dunno, we'll see.

Back to the problem, this happens when the truck is in neutral or in gear. Take a look at the video, it will help explain the issue. It's hard to tell where the sound is coming from, but I think its somewhere around the intake manifold...maybe towards the passenger side.

You definitely got my attention. And I can see/hear what you mean by that.

My head is reeling at the thought of WTH that is though.

One thing's for sure, I ain't never seen/heard a 3VZE(or any motor) do it.

Oh well, now I've got something to think about while I take a drive to go buys me some illegal fireworks!

That sounds like an emission part.....air pump bypass somethingmajig. You might have a hole in the related hose. MIght not be such a piece on the 3.0....but it does sound vac line related....something is not seated on 100%

Those are all also good ideas. The very first thing that came to my mind after watching the vid was one of the intake silencers/resonators on the air intake. But he said it's running good, which atleast means they're both hooked up(or atleast to some extent because there'd be a pretty good size vacuum leak/PS IACV and/or exhaust leak/PAIR if they weren't connected at the intake ends minimally). The one on the air filter box is for the PAIR. The other one on the air intake hose is for the PS idle up/air control valve.

Here's a diagram of the other one. It doesn't show the "intake resonator" between it and the air intake hose. Because it's not necessary, for obvious reasons.

Alright, I double checked all of those hoses over on the passenger side and everything looks good to me...still can't figure this out.

I had that same noise when i unhooked my hose on the lower air box that bolts to the side of the filter box. so my guess is u got a crack in the hose some where on this line or its unhooked. or its got to do with this line.

Im not to sure where it goes to but mine mad the same noise when i took the hose off. so my guess its its some thing wrong in this area or where ever the hard line goes to

Ok, that hose is properly connected and looks solid...so we can mark that off the list!

I tried to trace the hard line, but can't see where it goes under the manifold. Anyone know?

I had a similar noise from the PAIR hose from the black plastic connector to the Plenum. The hose was not on completely, and it would make the noise on deceleration. I actually took my plenum off to get it seated correctly. Be sure to replace the plenum gasket ($5 at auto zone) and don't try to reuse it like I did... The Plenum came off for the third time shortly after...

Ok, it is the PAIR system...just not too sure where. If I take the little hose off that has the check valve on it, I can hear a vacuum and I no longer hear the slurping noise on deceleration. When I hook it back up, the noise comes back. I've looked everywhere I can and can't seem to find any problems. The hoses going to the VSV look good and are hooked up properly. I'll continue looking.

ok..I found it. It's the big hose on the back of the valve...it's not seated properly and I might have to take the manifold back off to actually get it to seat. It's really wedged in there...so much so that it looked connected at first. dammit! Thanks for all of the help!

Yep, that one's tough to get back on. Always used to drive my crazy. Don't gotta deal with it anymore, since the whole system's been deleted on mine.

Nice, that's what I should do...would that clear my code 71? That's what I have to deal with next.. At least 52 is gone!

No, 71 is the EGR gas temp sensor. Probably a vacuum problem, vacuum hose in the wrong place or vacuum leaking somewhere's in the system. Maybe wiring, less likey a clogged EGR valve or need to replace the sensor. I've deleted all that too on mine.
