slightly rough idle...

My 22RE has 1500 miles on the rebuilt 22RE, but it seems to run slightly rough at idle, but smooths as the RPMs pick up. I also replaced plugs, wires, cap and rotor. The plugs are NGK iridium and the rest of the parts are Autozone brand. (That actually sounds kinda stupid now that I think about it)

While I was at the dealer getting a new key cut, I asked the knowledgeable parts guy about the rough idle. I hadn't told him about replacing any ignition parts, when he said....

"Nearly all of those that come through the service dept with rough idles, are cleared up by swapping out the cap, rotor, plugs, and wires with OEM parts."

Does this sound right?!

Also, are those NGK plugs fine, or did I just spend too much, when I could have used basic Denso plugs?!

Denso Plugs are supposedly the best for our trucks, expensive ones are not worth it in the 22REs case. Did you replace the fuel injectors and such? If not I would try a fuel system cleaner or something to that effect. Also try switching to a higher octane, check for vacuum leaks, and did you make sure all the plugs were gapped properly?

I have been told that the original denso ignition parts were and still are the best parts you can buy.

I was having a rough startup problem that was intermitant. I did a tune up, PCV, PCV Gasket, Cap (NAPA), Rotor (NAPA), and NGK V-Plugs. took care of my start up issue, and truck is idleing super smooth. I would have to disagree with OEM Toyo parts for the ignition being the best, NAPA has always had excellant Ignition and electrical parts. I also am a firm believer in NGK plugs. I have never had a problem with these items on any vehicle what so ever. But hey to each his own, just my own experience, of course there is nothing wrong with OEM Toyo parts either there just not the ONLY ones out there with quality parts.

Yes, please do. Mine idles a little rough too but I've gotten used to it. Its like a tiny miss every 8-12 seconds. Nothing bad just not smooth.
