Slight buck after sitting..

I travel a lot for work and my truck sits for week or so at a time and then I also had been working on it for the past week... been noticing it bucks slightly when I go from a dead stop to 1st but only does it for the first few times I drive it after sitting and then goes away. It's a manual btw... any ideas?

hmmm....just wondered if perhaps you aren't feeling a little slip and grab from the dead stop. otherwise, how well is the engine idling and running?

I would tend to agree with you but it seems odd that it only happens after its been sitting and then goes away after I drive it a few times. But that was my first instinct as well...

It did it about a month ago when I traveled for a week and I hadnt touched anything. This time I changed the driveshaft pinion seal and a bunch of other random stuff so it was sitting for about a week until yesterday.

Like I said though, it seems to go away after a few days. Could it be oxidation in the clutch or fluid leaking in there or something...

nah...with my 5spd 4rnr, i've had a leaky motor and ran it through wet county roads and let it set for atleast a week without it ever doing anything like that

maybe run some seafoam through the fuel system and see if that changes anything. not like leaving sit for a week or more is going to be a detriment to the fuel system. (i frequently do that with our currently operating 4rnr. the 5spd is long retired) nevertheless, it couldn't hurt. maybe you got some funky gas or something

at any rate, sometimes with hard to trace symptoms i've let them run the course....develop, as it were...until it gets worse, if it's going to get worse, so i can more easily trace the problem. a little stuttering isn't a big deal especially if it tends to clear up after a bit of driving.....annoying as it may be
