Skid Plate for 95 4Runner

I've got a pretty much stock 95 4runner, I seem to have lost the front skid plate. I don't do much off roading but I figure I should put something there.
Any ideas on a reasonably priced moderate use skid plate?

Your choices are pretty much stock tinfoil or aftermarket beef.

For stock, just hit up a junkyard.

For aftermarket, check out www.budbuilt.com

ah, just paint a stocker from a scrap yard, then at least you'll have pretty tin-foil plate

The Budbuilt skid plates look great, might be a little much for my 4Runner; dirt roads are about as much off roading as I do.
A junkyard stocker would be my first choice but the nearest junkyard is about fifty miles away.
Does the stock skid plate protect the front differential where the wires for the 4WD are? That's mostly what I'm worried about getting ripped off.

Anybody want to park their 95 4Runner outside my house overnight?

Just kidding, probably get lost on the way there and you'd have to park in the cow pasture; kind of curbs enthusiasm for crawling under the truck.

What years and model vehicle's skid plates would fit on a 95 4runner? Do Toyota pickups from the same year use the same skid plate?

I think the same plate was used all the way back to the first IFS 87.

I wish I could but I'm not set up for metal fabrication. I work with carbon fiber, but it think a carbon fiber skid plate would not be cost effective; but it sure would look sharp.

I would just buy a stocker and weld in some reinforcements on the backside. And paint of course. Just avoid what Fae Tal is doing to his roll bar...don't paint it pink. The roll bar is one thing...but a skid plate....

No roll bar should be necessary. This vehicle is mainly to get us to backcountry lakes, shuttling mountain bike runs and driving through snow.
With the stock skid plate; does it have to be removed when you change the engine oil and filter?
I think I'm going to take the running boards off as well; they collect a lot of dirt and mud.

No kidding?!?!?! It all makes sense now! That whole thread suddenly makes sense. Not really sure why that is so funny though. Just making sure nobody paints their skid plate pink. But I'm glad you seen it with your own eyes.

No, it doesn't have to be removed. The drain plug is on the backside of the crossmember and the skid attaches to the front of it.
