I got Monroe-matics because money is tight and I needed them BAD! I'm surprised at how well they work. I drive on and offroad. Offroad their a little stiff but not to bad. On the road their great nice comfortable ride. I got all 4 for $78.

mostly asphalt driving. nothing too extreme. but i love wheeling. my dads 1989 ford ranger has the nicest feeling suspension i have encountered and i would love my runner to have it. it feels like floating over obstacles when i go over stuff in the ranger. nowhere near the same thing in my 4runner

KYB Gas-A-Just are the best you can get for the $$$; Bilstein come in second for value. They still aren't cheap, but check www.sparkplugs.com for the latest price. Don't cheap out; they last a LOT longer than the crap ones.

I put Monroe Sensa-tracs on my '93 front and rear, drove with them for over a year and liked them for what I did - driving to and from school, work, friends houses and going over washed out roods and on rock beaches to fishing spots. Then my '88 4runner had them when I bought it, less than 3K miles on them. They are pretty decent for what they are, $50 a piece.

When I started upgrading things on the 86 I bought some Monroe Sensa-tracs from Napa. They worked out so well that I left them on there when I lifted it. Great ride and if I recall they were about 50$ each and listed as the OEM replacement.
